With the proximity of the community to the Catalina Mountains and other parts of Tucson, residents have access to many attractions. Catalina Park is a wonderful place to get back to nature. To rejuvenate, nothing hits the spot like a visit to Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa. If residents desire an outing on the cooler side, they can head seven miles east to Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley. Those who like to hike will enjoy Sabino Canyon, which is only 12 miles south of Black Horse.

Shopping is abundant, with malls and shopping centers dotting the landscape surrounding the neighborhood. Catalina Plaza is less than two miles from the neighborhood, while the S B Vistoso Shopping Center is a little more than four miles from the subdivision. The Oro Valley Marketplace is a little farther. Other shopping areas nearby are Park Place and the Tucson Mall.

Elementary school students in Black Horse attend Coronado K-8 School, while those in intermediate school will go to either Coronado K-8 or Catalina Mountain School. High school students attend Catalina Mountain High School. College students can enroll at the University of Arizona or Pima Community College.

Residents in need of urgent medical care can find it four miles from town at the Oro Valley Hospital. The Northwest Medical Center is also an option and is located 12 miles from Black Horse.
