It’s bordered to the north by East 87th Street and to the south by East Bannister Road. Booth Avenue and Farley Avenue make up its western border, and South Raytown Road serves as its eastern border.

White Oak is a very family-friendly community, with a few highly respected schools within walking distance of anywhere in the neighborhood. Union Point School is just to its south. St. John Francis Regis School, which is noted for its high-quality teaching staff, is a half-mile to its west, while Truman Elementary School is about a mile to its west. Specialty after-school studios for education are also available, such as Kwanzaa Martial Arts Academy, which lies just southwest of the community.
