Fronting Eva Mae Drive south from Old Poole Road, Dupree Acres is a long, thin neighborhood only one block wide. The northern end is commercial, belonging to the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Local Number 421. The rest are a handful of single-family homes on large lots that sit along Eva Mae Drive. Behind the homes to the west are thick groves of trees, giving the area a rural atmosphere. Across the street are just a couple of homes and even more trees. Dupree Acres is east of downtown Raleigh and Interstate 440.

The Raleigh Country Club and Golf Course are less than three miles west as is the Wakemed Hospital Raleigh Campus. Anderson Point Park, about two miles to the northeast, offers ball fields, an open grassy play area, a playground, and hiking trails. One of those trails leads to Crabtree Creek. A large circular bench sits by the water, surrounded by old-growth hardwood trees.

Nearby churches include the Abundant Life Christian Center on Old Poole Road, and the Praise Worship Tabernacle and Truth in Jesus Christ Holiness which are both on Bethel Road to the south. The closest public school is Bugg Elementary on Cooper Road about a mile east. Secondary students are served by the Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School on Rock Quarry Road, two miles to the southwest.

Right across from Dupree Acres is Murray’s Bar-B-Q and Seafood, the closest restaurant. Beyond that on South New Hope Road is Quiznos and the 8th Sin Coffee Company. Taking Poole Road to the east leads to a cluster of fast food outlets near Interstate 440. Poole Road also leads into Raleigh, and the closer you get to the town center the more plentiful the eateries and shops become.
