Roxboro is a large neighborhood, situated approximately 10 miles northwest of Downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Consisting mainly of single-family, ranch-style homes, Roxboro is located east of North Council Road, south of Northwest 122nd Street, west of North Rockwell Avenue and north of West Hefner Road. Just to the north and northeast are bordering neighborhoods – Kimberly Place and Summit Place.

The Roxboro neighborhood is a popular area due to its close proximity to Lake Hefner. Located about 2.5 miles to the southeast of Roxboro, Lake Hefner was built in the late 1940s. The area surrounding Lake Hefner has a resort appeal with boat storage and restaurants.

Bordering the lake at the south are Lakeshore Park, Lake Hefner Park and Lake Hefner Golf Club. Surrounding the lake are the Lake Hefner Trails which connect with recreational facilities. The trails are utilized by walkers, joggers and cyclists. There are also boat and fishing docks located around the lake.

Roxboro is located in the 73162 zip code area of Oklahoma County. Public schools in the vicinity of Roxboro include Will Rogers Elementary, John Marshall Middle and Putnam City North High School. Oklahoma State University is about 8.5 miles south, just west of Downtown Oklahoma City.

Residents of Roxboro have easy access to local shopping venues. Only a few minutes’ drive southeast is the Walnut Village Shopping Center. Only a mile farther south are various large chain stores including the Walmart Supercenter. This area is also west of Lake Hefner and offers a variety of dining and entertainment venues.

A popular recreational area for Roxboro residents is the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, just north of Lake Overholser. Stinchcomb is a marshland area but provides areas for hiking and biking. Prairie dogs, burrowing owls, beaver, deer and several hawk species are only a few wonders visitors get to see. Stinchcomb is a popular destination for kayaking or just appreciating Mother Nature’s beauty.
