The Sheraden Neighborhood is in the 15204 zip-code area of the city of Pittsburgh, in Allegheny County. The Pittsburgh weather combined with the hilly topography can make cycling a challenge, which the city has met by lining the low lying areas and banks of the rivers with park lands that have well-maintained bike trails. One of which, the Great Allegheny Passage, is 240 miles of hiking and bike trails that connects Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Washington, D.C.

The neighborhood is bordered to the north by the railroad tracks. The eastern border is Danley Street. Chartiers Avenue and Berry Street share the south border. Middletown Road is the west boundary. This is the largest neighborhood on the west side of Pittsburgh.

To the North of the Sheraden Neighborhood is the Ohio River. To the east, across the river is the Bidwell training center, a technical school. To the south of the neighborhood is the Forsythe Miniature Golf Course, built in 1942. To the west is the Bon Air Golf Course, with 5,821 yards and par-71, and with three lakes that come into play on four holes.

The homes in the neighborhood are often referred to as the ‘Pittsburgh Box’ for the style is a mix of the plain prairie homes and the metropolitan Victorian home style. The neighborhood has many properties available for purchase or rent that are reasonable but offer plenty of style and amenities.

One of the advantages that keeps the city below the national average cost of living is the comprehensive public transportation system. Operated by the Allegheny County Port Authority, the wide-reaching network has scheduled bus routes that are connectible with light rail. Many of the main roadways are accompanied by sidewalks, but they fade away on the narrow residential streets, and there are no bike lanes outside of the park lands’ hike/ bike trails.
