Druid Hills Neighborhood

Druid Hills is a neighborhood in Birmingham, Alabama. 26th Street North is the eastern border of the neighborhood, I-20/I-59 to the south, 17th Street North is the western border and 21st Avenue North on the north. The zip code for Druid Hills is 35203. This is an older neighborhood. Many of the homes were built in the 1930s. There are both single and multi-family homes. Druid Hills has easy access to the I-65 and the I-20/I-59. There are some streets that are very commercial in the neighborhood. There are sidewalks on most streets. The area is hilly and many of the yards are steep and small.

There are a few restaurants in the neighborhood including Rally’s Hamburgers, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Church’s Chicken. There is also a Starbucks. There are grocery stores but they are all local ones, no national chains.

Barker Park this is a small park that offers tennis courts and basketball hoops as well as some open green area. For that Rocky Balboa experience there are some really steep steps on the east side that will give a great workout.

The Ensley Branch of the Birmingham Public Library is located in the Druid Hills neighborhood. This branch is open Monday through Friday for the convenience of the neighbors. The Sheraton Birmingham Hotel and the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex are located near the I-20/I-59 in the Druid Hills neighborhood.

The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame has been entertaining locals and visitors alike for over 40 years. They have set the bar high and other sports halls of fame around the country have used them as their inspiration. With over 5000 sports artifacts on display they are worthy of being considered one of the best. Five of the ESPN 15 tops athletes ever are features in the Hall of Fame.
