McGehee/Allendale Neighborhood

McGehee/Allendale is a neighborhood in Montgomery, Alabama in the 36111 zip code. The borders of the neighborhood are Carter Hill Road and Allendale Road on the north, McGehee Road and Woodley Road on the south, Midland Court on the west, and about three blocks west of Carter Hill Road on the east. Wide streets with large single-family detached homes on spacious treed lots define the neighborhood. Sidewalks and flat terrain make this a walker’s dream. This bedroom community is located southeast of downtown.

Old Town Shopping Center is located in the neighborhood and in addition to several local businesses includes a Subway Sandwich Shop. Across the street there is a branch of the US Post Office, an Amoco gas station, and a Super Foods Store.

Westminster Shopping Center is just a four-minute ride away. It has an Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and a Papa John’s Pizza. Across the street there is a CVS Pharmacy, and Publix Super Market and Starbucks Coffee are on Zelda Road.

Vaughn Road Park is located a short drive to the northeast of the neighborhood. This 21-acre city park has lots of grass and open space surrounded by tall trees. The park has a boundless playground which allows children of all ability levels to access and enjoy the equipment. The park also has tennis courts, trails for jogging, picnic tables, and grills.

Jefferson Davis High School is located within the neighborhood. It is a large school with over 2300 students in grades 9-12. Students are encouraged to pursue their education and also to participate in sports and extracurricular activities.
