Hartselle, AL Apartments for Rent

Hartselle, Alabama is everything you’d expect in a small, Southern town and more. It has a charming downtown that is populated with quaint cafes, antique stores, and small boutiques. The period lighting, wide sidewalks, and benches invite visitors to take a stroll, window-shop, and enjoy a slower pace.

Hartselle is just 12 miles south of Decatur and 35 miles southwest of Huntsville. It is situated in northern Alabama less than two hours north of Birmingham. Considered one of the best small towns in the country, residents enjoy good schools, a family-friendly community, and plenty of outdoor recreation.

In 1870, the South and North Alabama Railroad made its way into the area and Hartselle began to take shape. The town was named for one of the railroad owners, George Hartsell, and a post office was established in 1873. The postal authorities decided to add an “s” to the end, making the town “Hartsells.” The citizens of Hartsells, however, changed the “s” to an “e,” and the name became Hartselle.

Rent a Hartselle apartment and you’ll love shopping in Downtown Hartselle, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Depot Days Festival is a weeklong celebration that includes an art show, live entertainment, races, and a tractor show. Sparkman Park is an 80-acre park with basketball courts, ball fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, disc golf, and lighted walking trails. Behind the Sparkman Civic Center, you’ll find the John Mark Stallings Special Needs Accessible Playground of Morgan County (SNAP). This playground includes a splash pad, pavilion, and a play area.
