Cody Neighborhood

Cody is a medium-sized community of Mobile. With an area of 1.410 square miles, it has a population of approximately 3,000 residents. It’s bordered by Zeigler Boulevard, County Road 37, and several smaller, local streets.

The Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds, host to many events including the annual fair, is adjacent to Cody at its western border. The Mobile Regional Airport, the major airport of the city and surrounding areas, is three and a half miles to its southwest.

Hillsdale Heights Park is a mile to its south, and it includes a softball/baseball field, a football field, a community center, tennis courts, a playground, and a swimming pool. Miller Park is a mile and a half to its northwest, while Jaguar Track is two miles to its southeast.

It’s a popular neighborhood among college students, as several universities are within five minutes of Cody. The University of South Alabama, with its well-regarded Baugh Biomedical Library and Psychology Teaching Clinic, is just under two miles to its southeast. Spring Hill College, a Jesuit university, is four miles to its east. The Virginia College at Mobile, Faulkner University, and the Ornamental Horticulture Field Station of Auburn University are within a four-mile radius.

Cultural attractions also abound nearby. The MGM Art Gallery is two miles northeast of Cody. The Mobile Museum of Art is three miles to its east, and the St. Ignatius Archives Museum just a bit more distant at three and a half miles to its east. The Bragg-Mitchell Museum, an historical landmark and museum, is seven miles to its east, and the Oakleigh House Museum is a little farther at nine miles to its east.
