Its Taylor Field is also adjacent to the neighborhood. Alabama State University is also located just minutes away from Cloverdale/Idlewild. Alabama State is located on Carter Hill Road.
Neighborhood shopping centers include Normandale Shopping Center on Norman Bridge Road, Faircourt Shopping Center on West Fairview Avenue, and Country Club Shopping Center on Carter Hill Road.
The Montgomery Country Club is also a neighborhood landmark. The club is located on Narrow Lane Road and offers an 18-hole golf course and 11 hard surface tennis courts. There is also a full service pro shop and club house. The club hosts local tournaments in both golf and tennis.
