Cloverdale/Idlewild Neighborhood

The Cloverdale/Idlewild neighborhood of Montgomery, Alabama, is bordered by Norman Bridge Road on the west and East Fairview Avenue on the north. Le Bron Road forms the eastern boundary and East Edgemont Avenue is the south border. Some neighborhood streets include Montezuma Road, Wellington Road, Lexington Road, and Mastin Lane. The Cloverdale/Idlewild neighborhood is also just a few blocks away from I-65.

The Cloverdale/Idlewild neighborhood is characterized by modest, but well-kept older homes on large lots. The lawns are wide and well-groomed. There are many shade trees. There are also several apartment buildings and townhouses in the area. Sidewalks are found in these areas, but other streets are wide, quiet and very walkable. There are also a number of city greenspaces incorporated into area. The greenspaces are mowed but have no facilities.

Huntington College is located in the neighborhood. Huntington College is a private coed liberal arts college that is best known for its business and science program. Its Taylor Field is also adjacent to the neighborhood. Alabama State University is also located just minutes away from Cloverdale/Idlewild. Alabama State is located on Carter Hill Road.

Neighborhood shopping centers include Normandale Shopping Center on Norman Bridge Road, Faircourt Shopping Center on West Fairview Avenue, and Country Club Shopping Center on Carter Hill Road.

The Montgomery Country Club is also a neighborhood landmark. The club is located on Narrow Lane Road and offers an 18-hole golf course and 11 hard surface tennis courts. There is also a full service pro shop and club house. The club hosts local tournaments in both golf and tennis.
