Abbott Loop Neighborhood

The Anchorage, Alaska neighborhood of Abbott Loop is bounded by Lore Road to the North, Lake Otis Parkway to the West, Elmore Road to the East, and Abbott Road to the South. Often mistaken for a portion of the Hillside community, Abbott Loop is actually a neighborhood of its own. Just to the northeast of Abbott Loop lies the small Campbell Airstrip, which is utilized by small personal and business class aircraft.

Comprised of mainly single family homes and a few duplexes sprinkled here and there, Abbott Loop is known for middle-to-upper class families that live in well maintained, suburban homes at the outskirts of Alaska’s largest city.

Due to its proximity to the Far North Bicentennial Park, the Abbott Loop community is often frequented by cows and bull moose. Residents learn to look out for these large animals when walking or driving through the community. This neighborhood is considered to be one of the safest in the Anchorage Bowl area, and it’s a favorite neighborhood for both families and individuals who enjoy a stroll through the streets.

The closest high school, Service High, lies just outside of the neighborhood, and is considered to be one of the better public schools in the city. All in all Abbott Loop is a perfect neighborhood for families looking to be close to the wilderness without actually living in it.
