Apartment for Rent in Southern Hills
Daly City at a Glance
Southern Hills Neighborhood
The oddly shaped, urban neighborhood of Southern Hills, Daly City, California, is part of the largest city in San Mateo County. Southern Hills is located on the opposite side of Daly City. Developers of nearby Serramonte also created this hillside neighborhood.
Compared to the United States average, Southern Hills has a very high cost of living. Population density per square mile is also very high. Nearly four people make the average household, while the average resident is approximately 35 years old. Types of housing include houses, condominiums, and apartments.
Southern Hills is bordered to the north by the boundary lines shared by San Francisco City and County and San Mateo County. The San Bruno State and County Park borders Southern Hills to the south. Like all neighborhoods in Daly City, Southern Hills shares the major transportation hub served by BART, MUNI, buses, and SamTrans. Southern Hills is near the San Francisco International Airport. The neighborhood is close to Highways 1, 82, 101, and 280.
Surprisingly enough, this urban environment means family-friendly activities. Southern Hills’ location near San Francisco is in close proximity to the 700-acre Lake Merced, which offers birding, boating, running, and bicycling. The neighborhood is south of the Crocker-Amazon Playground and McClaren Park.
Directly south of Southern Hills is the San Bruno Mountain State and County Park. This park is known for its hiking trails, nature areas, magnificent city and bay views, and day-use facilities that are ADA accessible.
The Montara State Beach/McNee Ranch and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area offer beach activities and picnicking in the area.
Other attractions close to Southern Hills include the Serramonte Shopping Center, Pacifica Archery, Giamonna Pool, War Memorial Community Center, John Daly Library, and Lincoln Community Center.
