Expansive views of the Sierra Nevada foothills and nearby parks and golf courses make Empire Ranch Village seem like a vacation getaway. Many homes in this tranquil community are surrounded by forestland.

Empire Ranch Village is located in zip code 95630. Downtown El Dorado Hills lies to the northeast, downtown Folsom to the west, and Highway 50 and the Sierra Nevada foothills to the south.

Residents of Empire Ranch Village have a lot to choose from when it comes to nearby recreational activities. The El Dorado Hills Golf Course sits outside of the neighborhood to the southeast. This 18-hole course opened in 1964 and features rolling greens and water hazards.

Kids flock to the John Kemp Community Park, which is located to the southwest. This popular spot features two baseball diamonds, two multi-use fields, two volleyball courts, a playground and water feature, and picnic areas.

For a day’s outing the whole family can appreciate, many Empire Ranch Village residents visit Lake Folsom and the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. The 18,000-acre site has miles of trails used by bikers, hikers, and horseback riders. The park’s terrain features a wide variety of wildlife. Visitors who look closely may spot black-tailed deer, opossums, ground squirrels, raccoons, skunks, rabbits, coyotes, gray foxes, and an occasional mountain lion and bobcat.

Birdwatchers also enjoy themselves at the Mormon Island Wetlands located in the park. This quiet spot features Canadian geese in the wintertime and a wide variety of ducks in spring. Year-round inhabitants include quail, bushtits, wrens, towhees, scrub jays, blackbirds, red-tailed hawks, and eagles. The hawks and eagles often can be seen flying over the lake. Lake Folsom offers the opportunity to boat, water ski, and fish.
