Quail Hill Neighborhood

Set amidst 600 acres of nature preserve and located at the crossroads of several major freeways, the prestigious community of Quail Hill offers residents a secluded enclave in the heart of the city. Many of the residences feature elaborate landscaping and panoramic views. Named after a distinctive rock formation that marks the beginning of the adjacent open space, the neighborhood has a network of nature trails popular with hikers and bicyclists.

The neighborhood has single-family homes in Mediterranean, French Provincial, and Tuscan styles built in the mid-2000s, as well as luxury condominiums constructed at the same time. Quail Hill encompasses ZIP code 92603. The community is bounded by the 405 Interstate freeway to the north, the Laguna Canyon Freeway 133 to the east, and 600 acres of wildland to the south and west. The majority of the neighborhood consists of residences, although there are some commercial buildings such as shops, restaurants, and service establishments.

One of the many appealing aspects of Quail Hill is the 2.8-acre Quail Hill Trail. The trail begins at the end of Sand Canyon Road and is an easy nature hike. It is the only wilderness trail in the Natural Landmarks that allows leashed dogs. Hikers can use their cell phones to hear a self-guided audio tour. Not too far away to the west and next to the ocean is Crystal Cove State Park. This public park has 3.2 miles of beach and 2,400 acres of undeveloped woodland. It is a popular destination for beach-goers, hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders. Along the ocean, Quail Hill residents will find an underwater park, areas for scuba and skin diving, tide pools, and sandy coves.
