Crenshaw Neighborhood

Streets lined with towering palm trees and artistic murals make the neighborhood of Crenshaw as unique as it is diverse. Located between 48th Street and Slauson Avenue and with Crenshaw Boulevard running through its center, Crenshaw is a dynamic South Los Angeles community. It is eight miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Crenshaw has been made famous by a large number of rap songs and films made about or in the area, including the movie Boyz N The Hood, which was based on and filmed in Crenshaw. Famous Crenshaw residents include Ice Cube, Ice-T, Darryl Strawberry, Skee-lo, and the former mayor of LA James Hahn.

Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza is a large shopping mall with a tri-level Wal-Mart. Crenshaw High School and the New Design Charter School are both located in the Crenshaw neighborhood.
