Midtown Neighborhood

Lovely older homes, condominiums, and apartments in a well-established upscale neighborhood best describe Midtown. Residents will find the neighborhood close to shopping, schools, parks, and Bay Area destinations.

Midtown is near the kid-friendly Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo. Since 1962, the museum has emphasized hands-on activities and interactive exhibits. The mini zoo houses a menagerie of smaller animals and reptiles.

Visitors of all ages and interests want to explore the Stanford University Campus. Herbert Hoover, 31st President of the United States, and the First Lady, Lou Henry Hoover graduated from Stanford with degrees in geology. Hoover Tower is a 285-foot campus landmark with breath-taking views of the foothills and the Santa Clara Valley. Next to the tower, exhibits documenting the lives of the Hoovers are on display at the Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion.

Shopping enthusiasts will enjoy the world renowned Stanford Shopping Center, the Downtown Palo Alto Shopping Center, and the Town and Country Villages. The shopping and restaurant district centered on California Avenue is a cherished location for locals to shop and enjoy a fine meal.

For a brief getaway for a day, residents and visitors can rent sailboats, paddle boats, and row boats at Shoreline Lake. The lake is located in Mountain View, but can be reached through the trails in the Palo Alto’s Baylands Nature Preserve. Other outdoor opportunities at Shoreline Lake include picnicking, walking trails, and a café.

The ultimate thrill for families and adrenaline junkies is to ride the roller coasters and other breath-taking, heart-stopping rides at California’s Great America in nearby Santa Clara. Known as having the best selection of rides in Northern California, the theme park offers tamer entertainment, including Planet Snoopy, featuring the beloved beagle and the Peanuts gang to delight younger children and their parents.
