Northeast Neighborhood

Welcome to the historic Northeast neighborhood, a community located in Pasadena, California. Some of Pasadena’s most well-known neighborhoods occupy this residential community. Located in the 91107 zip code area of Los Angeles County, the neighborhood is bounded by Washington Boulevard to the north, Marengo and Mentor to the west, Holliston to the east, and the 210 Freeway and Orange Grove to the south.

Northeast is listed in the California Register of Historic Places, and was Pasadena’s first landmark district. Northeast encompasses Bungalow Heaven, the Historic Highlands, Brigden Ranch, and Hastings Ranch. The community’s diverse architectural styles appeal to a range of tastes. Home styles include bungalows, Tudors, Spanish style homes, and ranchers.

The neighboring Historic Highlands, established in the 1990s, is known for its annual historic homes tour and community-wide involvement. Another nearby community, Brigden Ranch contains homes that were built as far back as the 1920s. Finally, Hastings Ranch is particularly notorious for its annual Christmas displays. This tradition dates back to 1957 and is characterized by miles of lights and extravagant displays. It sits to the east of New York Drive and is divided by Sierra Madres Boulevard into two sections called Upper Hastings and Lower Hastings.

Don Benito Elementary School, Pasadena’s magnet elementary school, and Field Elementary School are nearby. Wilson Middle School and Pasadena High School also serve Northeast. La Salle Catholic High School is a private school nearby.
