Alessandro Heights Neighborhood

Riverside lies inland and to the south east of Los Angeles, California. The city sprawls around and along the Santa Ana River. Riverside was founded in the early 1870s by John W. North and was developed as a citrus growing hub. Riverside is mostly a flat and semi-arid basin that is ringed by plenty of hilly areas and the nearby San Gabriel mountains. Citrus growing prosperity allowed Riverside to have the first polo fields and golf course in Southern California.

Alessandro Heights lies in the hilly southernmost area of Riverside. This neighborhood is bordered by the Overlook Parkway to the north, March Air Reserve Base to the east, and completely hilly and undeveloped land to the south. This area was not developed for residential use until about 30 years ago because of the hills and distance from downtown Riverside. As a result, the area hosts a mix of uniquely curved residential blocks, as well as the newer grid style of conservation-oriented residential areas.

The area is in zip code 92506 and is bordered by the neighborhoods of Hawarden, Arlington Heights and Mission Grove. Orangecrest lies to the southeast.

The Santa Ana River is the northern border of Alessandro Heights, creating areas that boast beautiful views of the river, the basin valley and the San Gabriel Mountains.

Local features include the Victoria Village and Arlington Square shopping centers, and the Santa Ana Regional Park to the north. There are many shopping, cultural, arts, and dining areas in Riverside that reflect both the historical Spanish culture of California and the modern trends of a creative community. The University of California is to the northeast. The Los Angeles metropolitan area and Pacific Ocean are only about 60 miles away.
