Balboa Terrace Neighborhood

Balboa Terrace is a small, residential neighborhood with the classic appeal of a suburban neighborhood. Established in the 1900s, the houses in the neighborhood are built with lots of stucco and decorative tile. Exclusive condominiums and apartments blend well with the comfortable, yet urban, surroundings.

Balboa Terrace is an attractive residential area where each house has its own unique design. Tree lined streets and tidy front yards can best describe the urban landscape. The neighborhood is pedestrian friendly and children can walk to public schools in the San Francisco Unified School District. San Francisco State University is nearby. The neighborhood is close to parks, public transportation, and freeway access to Downtown San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area cities. Residents and visitors can board a plane at San Francisco International Airport or take a train at the Amtrak station.

The neighborhood is close to some of San Francisco’s most popular attractions.

The Lake Merced Park is an outdoor haven in a city setting. Residents and visitors can walk or run around the lake for a cardiovascular workout. Other park activities include golf, picnicking, and fishing. At the off-leash, Lake Merced Dog Park, dogs and owners have their day at the park too.

The Harding Park Golf Course in Lake Merced Park is a public golf course designed for championship play. Intermediate or advanced golfers may find the course challenging, but playing on a golf course landscaped with cypress trees and with the scenic views of Lake Merced is worth the visit.

The San Francisco Zoo was founded in 1929 and is the oldest zoo in Northern California. The family friendly, 100-acre site with over 35 animal exhibits is a place for education and entertainment, with emphasis on nature and conservation.
