San Jose at a Glance
Oak Grove Neighborhood
Oak Grove is a small community in southeast San Jose bordered on the northern side by Hayes Avenue and Coy Drive, on the southern side by Blossom Hill Road, on the eastern side by Lean Avenue, and on the western side by Judith Street. The Oak Grove neighborhood holds a high school, many residential homes, and a number of standalone businesses.
Oak Grove High School is rather diverse, but much of the focus there is centered squarely on high school football. Phil Sterns Stadium is one of the nicest high school stadiums in all of San Jose. Quite a few former high school football players there have since gone on to become professional gamers in various leagues.
Oak Grove is less than a few hundred feet from the West Valley Freeway, linking the neighborhood to the surrounding areas in southeast San Jose. This easy access gives residents the ability to travel just about anywhere they wish in the greater San Jose area without much trouble at all. As such, many Oak Grove residents end up shopping at places like the Westfield Oakridge Mall, which is generally considered to be one of the best malls in all of Silicon Valley.
Miner Park is within walking distance of Oak Grove, but many residents go a little bit further down to the road to Guadalupe Oak Grove Park, or its sister park, Almaden Lake Park. Both of these parks are extremely popular among residents from all over this side of the city, and have just about every major attraction one might expect available on hand for residents to experience every day of the year.
Of course, not every resident of Oak Grove wishes to travel that far to get whatever they have to do done. That’s why it is so powerful for neighborhood residents to know that many hyper-local attractions are also available, such as the Dolce Hayes Mansion, LGS Recreation Boating, All-Star Music, and the many parks that exist in the surrounding area: Miner Park, Calero Park, Comanche Park, Cahalan Park, Palmia Park.
