North of Montana Neighborhood

With its well-maintained mansions, panoramic ocean views, and refreshing sea breezes, North of Montana is one of the most prestigious communities in Los Angeles. Many of the homes in this upscale neighborhood are expansive and sit on large lots.

Home designs in North of Montana tend toward luxury homes such as a Contemporary-style penthouse built in 1995, a 1979 town-home with an ocean view, an upscale Mid-Century condominium built in 1948, and a wide variety of Mediterranean-style mansions constructed from the 1920s through the 1940s. North of Montana encompasses area code 90402.

The community is bounded by San Vincente Boulevard to the north, 26th Street to the east, Montana Avenue to the south, and Ocean Avenue to the west. Much of the community is residential, although you will find a variety of shops, restaurants and service establishments.

Of the many appealing aspects of North of Montana is the community’s direct proximity to the Santa Monica State Beach. This 2-mile stretch along the water includes a picnic area and pier, and there are volleyball and basketball courts, and a running strip along the shore.

Just outside of the community’s boundaries sits the Will Rogers State Historic Park, which pays tribute to the actor who bought 186 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the 1920s. The 31-room ranch house included a stable and roping area, and Rogers would ride and rope in his free time. He died in a plane crash in 1935, and the ranch became a state park after his wife passed away in 1944. Today’s visitors can take guided trail rides and experience the park on horseback.
