South Park Neighborhood

The South Park neighborhood in Santa Rosa, California, zip code 95404, is in an ideal location. It is bordered on the east by the Sonoma County Fair Grounds. Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2011, the Fair Grounds has events scheduled all year long. Golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course directly on the grounds. Having the satellite wagering on the location makes playing the ponies simple. The southern border encompasses the Martin Luther King Junior Park, continuing to Petaluma Hills Road. The park has grills for the perfect summer picnic. Kids play on the playground while others shoot hoops on the lighted basketball courts.

The Luther Burbank Memorial Highway, at the northern border, is less than a mile away from the US 101 junction. This gives residents access to all Santa Rosa has to offer. Around the borders of this neighborhood are several service business but the major shopping area is found two miles south at the Santa Rosa Marketplace. This is the home of major retail stores and restaurants. This is only one of the many stops of the Santa Rosa City Bus.

Single family homes and apartments are found side-by-side in this neighborhood with sidewalks inviting the residents to walk. Santa Rosa has created miles of trails to walk or bike. Santa Rosa is dog friendly with five fenced dog parks. They also have four areas for off-leash that are not fenced.

Luther Burbank Elementary School was named after the renowned horticulturist whose home is on one of the walking tours. Children also attend Santa Rosa Middle School and Montgomery High School.

Surrounded by green rolling hills, Santa Rosa is one of the largest wine producing areas in the state. The view of the hills is another reason for the residents of South Park to like their neighborhood.
