The boundaries of the neighborhood are the West Side Freeway/I-5 and Quail Run on the east, Brookside Road on the south, Buckley Cove on the west, and Embarcadero Drive on the north. This is a planned residential community that is made up of several gated subdivisions. There are single-family detached homes as well as condos and townhouses. The streets and the sidewalks are both wide and the whole area is very attractive. Brookside is located northwest of downtown Stockton and easily accessible on the I-5.

Brookside Country Club, which is located within the Brookside neighborhood, is a private golf course that was designed by Robert Trent Paine. In his usual style, it takes full advantage of the prevailing landscape and is both beautiful to look at and challenging to play. Beyond the 18 holes of golf, there is tennis, swimming, and fine dining.

Buckley Cove Park is either the beginning or the end of the Calaveras River Bike Path which runs for over five miles to Arnold Rue Park. This path is good for walking, jogging, skating, and biking.

Stockton Golf and Country Club is a historic private 18-hole golf club. The original course began almost 100 years ago and has been recently upgraded to current USGA standards. In addition to great golf, the club offers a new clubhouse with a top notch fitness center, member dining, and a swimming pool. This club is located just south of the neighborhood.

There are three elementary schools in Brookside: Claudia Landeen School, Brookside School, and Don Riggio School. All of them offer classes for grades K-8.

When residents want to grocery shop, there are several stores within an easy drive including Safeway, Raley’s, and Trader Joe’s.
