Northwest Arvada Neighborhood

Northwest Arvada is situated south of West 72nd Avenue and north of Highway 172. Ralston Creek flows through the heart of the neighborhood, and is flanked by Davis Lane Park and Danny Kendricks Park East. Northwest Arvada contains the smaller neighborhoods Twin Creek and Candlelight.

Northwest Arvada combines the natural elements, such as parks and lakes, with the more developed structures of living just outside a major city. There is plenty of shopping in the area as well as much to do in the form of recreational activities.

Arvada has many golf courses in the area for anyone who enjoys their Sunday tee time with a group of friends or workmates, or a solo morning on the green swinging the nine iron. The Indian Tree Golf Club and Applewood Golf Course are both only a short drive away from anywhere in Northwest Arvada.

For indoor activities, there is the Arvada Center for the Arts, which presents regular performances for the Arvada community. There are art programs for young children and adults over the age of 55. The performing arts programs vary from music and dance to theatre, and the visual arts programs include painting, photography, and ceramics. The area is home to several shopping centers such as the Northridge Shopping Center, Mission Commons Shopping Center, and Market Square Shopping Center. There are several restaurants to choose from, as well, including popular chains such as Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Malone’s Clubhouse Grill.

Van Bibber Open Space Park is rich with historical significance. Nearby, Colorado’s first recorded gold rush occurred in 1850. The discovery was made by a group of miners on their way to the California. Along with learning a little history, visitors to Van Bibber Creek Trail often see deer, fox, birds, hawks, and waterfowl, due to the combination wetlands and ponds. It is a popular place for birdwatching, as it is often used by wildlife as a resting place while traveling between nesting places and feeding grounds.

There are many pedestrian/bike paths in the area. There are lakes nearby, as well, including Hyatt Reservoir and Kelly Reservoir. Harold D. Lutz Sports Complex offers fields for softball, baseball, soccer, and Little League baseball. The kid-friendly Meadow Lake Park is nearby and features playground equipment, a tennis court, picnic tables, a walking/jogging path, and abundant shady trees.
