Willow Park Neighborhood
The neighborhood surrounding Willow Park is naturally centered on the park itself. The park is long and slender, scenic, and accessible from Westlake Drive. To the south of Westlake Drive is Westlake Village Park. Willow Park is situated between Grove Way to the east and King’s Circle to the west. Cottonwood Park also is to the west.
To the northwest is West Lake, and to the east is Centennial Elementary School.
The major access routes to this neighborhood are from Lowell Boulevard to the west and West 128th Avenue to the south.
On the west side of Lowell Boulevard is Paul Derda Recreational Center, a handy destination for kids in the area. Tom Frost Reservoir is located south of the recreational center, and just southwest of Willow Park.
To the north, on the other side of West 136th Avenue, is Broadlands golf course. This is a large course with a unique and twisting style which should be a challenge to golfers.
McKay Lake lies to the northeast of Willow Park. This isn’t a large lake, but is more than suitable for people who like to fish.
To the east of Willow Park, Interstate 25, running north and south, gives access to the community.
There are several reservoirs that are within a short distance of this neighborhood, as well as other parks. There are also cemeteries, and a shopping center lies a couple miles to the southwest.
This neighborhood has a large number of nice and affordable houses. Yet, recreation is easily found for the members of the community, with so many parks, reservoirs, and recreation areas nearby. With an actual park as the center of the neighborhood, it isn’t difficult to see why the recreation landmarks would be a large part of this community.
