LoDo Neighborhood

LoDo, short for Lower Downtown, lies just north of Denver’s Central Business District and is the heart and soul of the city’s nightlife scene. What was formerly a seedy warehouse district has been transformed into a trendy mixture of converted lofts, brewpubs, offices, shops, galleries, nightclubs and sports bars. LoDo is the most preserved part of the city’s downtown district.

In 1988, LoDo was declared a Historic District and revitalization of the neighborhood began to occur. The opening of Coors Field in 1995 later enhanced it.

Today, residences in LoDo consist mainly of converted brick warehouse lofts, new loft construction, condos and mixed retail/apartment residences. Due to building height limitations, many residences can enjoy views of downtown and mountain views to the west.

LoDo lies within the 80202 zip code and is bounded by Speer Boulevard to the west, Lawrence Street to the south, 20th Street to the east, and the South Platte River to the north. Shopping opportunities and nightlife are endless throughout LoDo. Baseball fans often flood the many sports bars before and after games.

Residents of LoDo have easy walking access to the district and can take the free 16th Street Mall shuttle to the Central Business District. Union Station offers local bus service, regional bus service, light rail, and Amtrak train service.

Outdoor recreation, entertainment and sporting events are all within a short walk in LoDo. The nearby Pepsi Center is the home of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche while baseball fans can take in a game at Coors Field. In the summer, many residents catch the amusement rides at Elitch Gardens or play in the water of the South Platte River at Confluence Park. The Cherry Creek bike path gives access to the scenic South Platte River Greenway.
