Uptown Neighborhood

Located between downtown Denver’s Central Business District and City Park, the Uptown neighborhood offers the excitement of downtown with nearby outdoor recreational opportunities. In the vibrant Uptown community, shopping, entertainment, nightlife, live sports action and cultural events are just minutes away.

Uptown, which includes the North Capital Hill neighborhood, lies just east of the Central Business District and contains a mix of high-rise apartment complexes, 3-story brick apartment buildings, single-family homes, condominiums and small businesses. Single-family home designs within Uptown include one-story bungalows, brick Denver Squares, elegant Victorians and the occasional Craftsman.

Uptown lies within the 80203 zip code and is bordered by Broadway to the west, East Colfax Avenue to the south, Downing Street to the east, and East 20th Avenue/ Park Avenue to the north. Shopping opportunities are endless in the nearby Central Business District, in LoDo, along East Colfax Avenue, and in the surrounding communities. Fine dining and nightlife are always an option in LoDo, the 16th Street Mall, Denver Pavilions, Larimer Square and Writers Square.

Getting around the Denver Metro Area is quite convenient from Uptown. Residents can take light rail to surrounding communities or take local and regional RTD bus service to surrounding cities. Bicycle commuting in warm weather months is made simple with Denver’s B-Cycle bike share program.

Sports and culture fans will be kept occupied in Uptown. Residents can watch major league baseball at Coors Field or professional hockey and basketball at the Pepsi Center. Football games at Invesco Field at Mile High are just a short bus ride down Colfax Avenue. The Denver Center for The Performing Arts, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the Colorado Convention Center are popular venues for cultural events and performances.

Outdoor recreation opportunities are a short trip away from Uptown. One can people-watch in Civic Center Park or visit the very popular and expansive 330-acre City Park. In City Park one can visit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Zoo, golf at the City Park Municipal Course or take out a paddle boat on Ferril Lake.
