Hopping the metro one block from the house will take you downtown to monuments, museums, dining, the theatre, the White House, the Capital, the Library of Congress, and other government buildings in 10 to 20 minutes; to major sports venues, the Wharf, or Union Station in 10-15 minutes; and to National Airport in 20 minutes. If driving, you are within 1.5 miles to interstate I-295 with easy access to I-495 and I-95; within 5 miles of the MGM Grand and the National Harbor.
