Boca Raton Neighborhood

Boca Raton is a beautiful city located about 25 miles south of West Palm Beach. Boca Raton consists of several small neighborhoods, including Boca Raton Hills, Villa Rica, and Porta Bella. Boca Raton is well-known for its art walks and art festivals – and, of course, its beaches. Boca Raton is just about 40 miles north of Miami and offers a beautiful stretch of beaches, including South Inlet Park. This park has a coral reef located just offshore, ideal for snorkeling without a boat. Red Reef Park is another terrific oceanfront park located along Boca Raton’s eastern shoreline. The main campus of Florida Atlantic University is located in Boca Raton.

If you are moving to Boca Raton, be sure to check out the neighborhood of Boca Raton Hills, a neighborhood off Boca Raton Boulevard. Boca Raton Hills is close to Boca Raton’s two-mile stretch of pristine beaches and parks with picnic areas and playgrounds. Nature programs are conducted through the 20-acre Gumbo Limbo Environmental Education Center. As a center for environmental education, research, and conservation, Gumbo Limbo’s protected barrier island provides refuge to many varieties of plants and animals, some rare or endangered.

Fishing in the Intracoastal Waterway is a favorite pastime of visitors to nearby Spanish River Park, which takes its name from the shallow freshwater stream that once flowed along its western edge. Park visitors enjoy swimming and beach lounging, as well as volleyball, surfing, and snorkeling. For the sports enthusiast, Boca Raton Tennis Center offers a wide variety of programs, activities, and special events. The award-winning center has four Hydro-Grid clay courts and state-of-the-art lighting to enhance the playing experience.

If you want to live close to the university, choose the Porta Bella neighborhood – it is a short four miles from campus. Porta Bella also contains the Ocean Breeze Golf and Country Club, a semi-private club that offers 27 holes of championship golf.

Sand Pine Park is an 8.6-acre park with two athletic fields, two tennis courts, a fitness trail, water misters and fountains, restrooms, and picnic facilities. A small playground and benches are also available.

Just slightly more than 3.5 miles to the south, Mizner Park offers a selection of upscale shops and eateries, the Boca Raton Art Museum, and the Mizner Park Amphitheatre, which sponsors a wide variety of events including the Summer in the City Music Series. The Sunshine Cinemas, also in the park, offers first-run movies.
