Gateway Park is a large neighborhood located approximately one mile north of downtown Gainesville, Florida. Encompassed by Northwest 19th Avenue to the north, Northwest 10th Street to the west, Northwest 16th Avenue to the south, and Northwest 6th Street to the east, Gateway Park is conveniently located just northeast of one of the best learning facilities in the state – the University of Florida.

The Gateway Park neighborhood contains a mixture of single-family homes, duplexes or attached housing, and apartment buildings. This neighborhood is popular with college students due to the many rental options available. Many of the streets within Gateway Park wind around to dead-end streets which prevents a lot of through traffic. The entire neighborhood is surrounded in lush greenery with trees lining the streets and landscapes.

An important aspect of Gateway Park is its proximity to the University of Florida and Downtown Gainesville. However, this neighborhood is also centrally located to many recreational, shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. All within a mile radius of Gateway Park are Northside Shopping Center, Northgate Shopping Center, and The Market Place Shopping Center.

Some of the more popular entertainment options are located in Downtown Gainesville. Residents can enjoy a play at the Hippodrome State Theatre or take advantage of the free, outdoor music offered at Bo Diddley Community Plaza. The Plaza also provides a park and picnic areas and is often used for local festivals and gatherings.

Only a few minutes’ drive from Gateway Park is The Thomas Center. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Thomas Center is located in a Mediterranean Revival-style hotel and houses art and historical exhibits. Adjacent to The Thomas Center are the Thomas Center Gardens and Grace and Sidney Knight Children’s Theatre.

Gateway Park is situated in the 32609 zip code area of Alachua County. Public schools in the vicinity of the neighborhood include J.J. Finley Elementary, Howard W. Bishop Middle and Gainesville High School. The Morningside Nature Center is approximately two miles to the east and Gainesville Regional Airport is less than three miles to the northeast of Gateway Park.
