Julington Animal Walk is an alternate choice for a nearby dog park and features nature trails and an on-site animal hospital.

Popular golf courses are close at hand, such as San Jose Country Club, Deerwood Country Club, and Hyde Park Golf Club. Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach are all within a 30-minute drive of Lakewood, featuring water sport activities, fishing, and boating.

The Museum of Science and History, Alexander Brest Planetarium, and the Jacksonville Maritime Museum, which is located near the well-known Friendship Fountain on the Southbank Riverwalk, are among some of the attractions convenient to the Lakewood neighborhood.
