Magnolia Gardens Neighborhood

Developed in the 1950s, Magnolia Gardens is a cozy community northwest of downtown Jacksonville. Most houses are comfortable, ranch-style homes, and residents enjoy sidewalks that line most streets in the neighborhood. Lots are filled with mature trees that provide shade in the hot Florida summers.

Magnolia Gardens is in zip code 32209, and the neighborhood is bordered by Avenue B on the east, Edgewood Avenue on the north, and Highway 23 on the west.

Several conveniences are within walking distance of Magnolia Greens, including a Winn Dixie grocery store at the northeast corner of the neighborhood and a YMCA branch on Cleveland Road. George Washington Carver Elementary School and Carter G. Woodson Elementary are both in the neighborhood, and several churches, including Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church and A.M.E. Church of the Master, are nearby.

Commuters to downtown Jacksonville can take the Edgewood Community Shuttle bus, which stops at the corner of Edgewood Avenue and Avenue B. Downtown is home to some of the city’s biggest employers, including Bank of America and Modis. The city is also filled with shops and more than 100 restaurants and bars, and many residents enjoy strolling along the miles of riverwalk built along the St. John’s River.

Magnolia Gardens in close to Interstate 95 and Interstate 295, which connect to the Jacksonville International Airport and to Interstate 10, which crosses the Florida panhandle and ends at the Jacksonville beaches. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens are just 10 minutes away on the interstate, and the popular park offers the only walking safari in north Florida and more than 1,000 kinds of plants.
