New Town Neighborhood

New Town is a neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida. The neighborhood is part of the 32209 zip code and located west of Interstate 95 and south of Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway. Homes in the area are somewhat older with a wide variety of housing styles. The older homes also have trees surrounding them with many lining the streets and providing a great deal of green canopy cover throughout the neighborhood.

One of the best destinations in New Town is the Farmer’s Market off of Beaver Street. This cute little market is a great place to acquire produce and other farm goods that are fresh from the field and priced right. The market is known to carry a wide number of different farm products including cheese, honey, vegetables, fruits, and even crafts. The market is a tradition for many families in the area.

About two miles to the northeast is a nice little golf course called First Tee. This course is only nine holes but was created exclusively for teaching children the game of golf. The course has instructors who help young children learn the game in a manner that is fun and cost effective. The course itself is made for the younger golfers, allowing them to learn without the frustration of playing on a course made for adults.

On the west side of First Tee is a major recreation area, part of the Clanzel Brown Senior Center. This area has numerous tennis courts used by area trainers and for general play. There is also a baseball field, swimming pool, and playground area for younger children. The senior center has a number of offerings, as well, focused on keeping seniors active and healthy. The center offers a number of enrichment programs for senior fitness and provides classes on topics such as computer usage.
