Jacksonville at a Glance
Normandy Neighborhood
The Normandy neighborhood of Jacksonville, Fl., is located along Normandy Boulevard from Herlong Airfield east to Cassat Avenue. This plot of land, bordered by Interstate 10 to the north and Wilson Boulevard to the south, is an historic community that still retains some of its natural forest areas. Normandy was originally called “Hogan Settlement,” after the first white family to live in Duval County, and it became a community of ranch-owning families. Today those ranch properties have been converted to residential neighborhoods, such as Rolling Hills, Hyde Park, and Normandy Village. The Normandy area of Jacksonville is known for its well-constructed, concrete block and brick-built homes, which sit in family-friendly neighborhoods. Normandy is not a community of condo and apartment complexes. Instead, it has kept its lovely tree-lined streets and single-family homes.
Normandy is known as a family-centric neighborhood. It has some of Jacksonville’s best schools and parks. Families will enjoy the amenities of Arques Park, John D. Liverman Park and Normandy Park, to name just a few. With Normandy’s prime location near both I-10 and I-295, it is a very quick trip to the eastern portions of Jacksonville. Hop on I-10 East to enjoy the museums, malls, or performance arts of downtown Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Landing. Or travel the loop of I-295 around the city to visit the exotic animals of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens or Adventure Landing, where you and the kids can drive go-karts, play laser tag or miniature golf, and win prizes in the arcade. Normandy is a great place for families and couples. It is a friendly community that is near all of the attractions of the city, while maintaining its close-knit neighborhood atmosphere.
