The community is also home to the Citrus Bowl Stadium, which features many types of events throughout the year: from collegiate football and professional wrestling to music festivals and and rock concerts. Several major vacation destinations, including Universal Orlando, Walt Disney World, and Sea World, are located just miles away.
Lorna Doone Lake is part of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Urban Fisheries Program, launched in 1991 to promote fishing in Florida’s many freshwater lakes. More than 250 species of fish are available statewide for catch and carry with the purchase of a fishing license. In addition to fishing off the banks of Lorna Doone Lake, visitors can picnic and hike short trails, and kids can play at a playground. Park hours are 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
The surrounding community is characterized more by commercial development than residential, although some housing is available. The closest guest accommodations to Lorna Doone are the Orange Inn Motel and the Vacation Lodge both located on Orange Blossom Trail.
