Southchase/Meadow Woods Village Neighborhood

The Southchase/Meadow Woods Village area of Orlando, Florida extends east of the Florida Turnpike, from just north of Osceola Parkway to just past Wetherbee Road. It consists of two neighborhoods: South Chase and Meadow Woods Village.

A neighborhood with ample sidewalks and neatly landscaped properties, Southchase is convenient to shopping at the Mercado Center, Hunter’s Creek Plaza, and Southchase Village located off of Wetherbee Road. The latter is less than two miles from the neighborhood and has a movie theater, restaurants, and shops. There is a local grocer close to Southchase that is located on Fairway Woods Boulevard.

Recreation is abundant in south Orlando and the Southchase area. The Orlando Kart Center is three miles away offering go-carting adventures for the entire family. The Bear Creek Park is also nearby, a free public park with ball fields, playground, and fishing. It is home to the Junior Bears Pre-School.

The 450-acre Shingle Creek Park is minutes west of Southchase. This nature area is home to bald eagles, river otters, and other fascinating wildlife. There are hiking trails for all ability levels. The park is just south of Orlando’s Sea World and Discovery Cove. Other nearby attractions include Gatorland and Walt Disney World.

Meadow Woods Village sits between Walt Disney World and the Orlando International Airport in Orange County. Pedestrian-friendly sidewalks and crosswalks allow children to walk to Meadow Woods Village Elementary School, Southwood Elementary School, South Creek Middle School, and Cypress Creek High School. College students can attend Valencia Community College’s Osceola Campus and Florida Christian College in nearby Kissimmee.

The neighborhood’s tree-covered Bear Creek Park features fishing, picnic tables, and a children’s playground. With its many baseball fields and tennis courts, the park is also home to several local youth sports leagues. A few miles north, Southport Community Park is an old Navy recreation center that now contains ball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, and trails for bicycles and pedestrians.

In addition to the shopping available at Southchase Village, nearby shopping centers contain a wide variety of shops, nightclubs, and restaurants. A brief trip on a public transit bus brings locals to the popular Orlando Premium Outlets seven miles east.
