The Trails Neighborhood

Just north of Granada Avenue lies the community of The Trails in Ormond Beach. This Florida subdivision is also accessible from Nova Road and is convenient to the beach and Interstate 95. The enterance on Nova Road is adjacent to the Trails Shopping Center, which offers upscale stores and restaurants.

Constructed in the 1970s, this neighborhood includes approximately 900 homes set on 600 acres. Housing options range from townhouses to premium riverfront estates. Larger, water-view homes are on the western end of the community, where the Tomoka River gently dips into the area. Small boats are able to navigate this section of the river, which provides ocean access at Ponce Inlet.

When this community was being developed, preservation of old-growth trees and other natural vegetation was a determining factor. As a result, the area is lush and well-shaded with an Old Florida feel. In terms of recreation, the community includes a large clubhouse with an Olympic-size pool, along with extensive walking and cycling paths throughout the area.

Within the community is the Trails Racquet Club for residents who enjoy tennis. This center offers eight courts that are available for night play, an active program of social and competitive tennis events, a pro shop, instruction by professionals, and racquet restringing and repair.

Another recreational asset is the Nova Community Center and Park, which offers both indoor and outdoor facilities. The community center houses a gym with basketball courts, a game room, a fitness center with a weights room, and an activity room. Exercise classes and a summer camp for children are available.

The Nova Community Park hosts 60 acres of recreational amenities, including a skate park, a fitness trail, pavilions with picnic tables, and five baseball diamonds. The park also has courts for tennis, handball, and backetball.
