Northeast Tallahassee Neighborhood

Northeast Tallahassee is located south of I-10 and east of Highway 310. The area contains the Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway, Lafayette Heritage Trail Park, and the JR Alford Greenway. Neighborhoods in the Northeast area include Buckwood, Meadow Hills, Easton, Brewster Estates, Lafayette Meadows, Capital Hills, and Hidden Valley.

Although Downtown Tallahassee is only seven miles away, Northeast Tallahassee can often feel worlds apart. It is dotted with lakes, palm trees, and wrapped with winding country roads. Northeast Tallahassee contains the Canadian Geese Trail, the Totem Trail, and the Yearling Trail.

Visiting St. Vincent’s Island is an outdoor adventure. Tour operators take visitors from Apalachicola, a coastal city 50 miles from Tallahassee. Free public tours are offered during Wildlife Refuge Week in October and Migratory Bird Day in May. The undeveloped island is alive with birds, including bald eagles. Alligators, red wolves, and sea turtles also find refuge there.

Nearby Governor’s Square Mall offers several dining, entertainment, and shopping venues. Department stores include Dillard’s, Macy’s, JC Penney, and Sears. Specialty shops include Aeropostale, Kay Jewelers, Foot Locker, and Things Remembered. Food establishments include Starbucks, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Chick-fil-A, and Cinnabon.
