Forest Hill Village Neighborhood

Forest Hill Village is a mature neighborhood set on quiet streets southwest of downtown West Palm Beach. Single-family houses are set behind tidy lawns, with established landscaping and often with full-grown trees. A few low-rise apartment buildings and condominium complexes are part of the neighborhood as well.

Forest Hill Boulevard bounds the neighborhood on the north. The western boundary is Sherwood Forest Boulevard, and the southern boundary is a narrow canal south of Rue Road. On the east, another canal separates Forest Hill from the Abbey Park neighborhood. The zip code is 33415.

Forest Hill Elementary is the neighborhood school. Its students continue to Okeeheelee Middle School and Leonard High. Among the many colleges in the area is Palm Beach State College, which offers two-year and four-year degrees.

A Wal-Mart is within easy walking distance on Forest Hill Boulevard, as well as two local shopping centers. Farther away, downtown Clematis Street is an interesting place to shop, lunch, or enjoy an evening out. The Mall at Wellington Green is another choice for shopping. To the south, in the town of Sunrise, is the Sawgrass Mills Mall, a huge regional outlet mall with excellent prices on upscale merchandise.

Outdoor adventure at Okeeheelee Park is a three-minute drive away. A huge 1702 acres, it has facilities for team sports and solitary walks, for picnicking, and boating. A dog park complements an equestrian center. Concessions in the park rent bicycles, canoes, and kayaks. Water-skiers have a lake, and anglers have a lake and pier. Golfers have three nine-hole public courses with pro shop and driving range.

Forest Hill Village is a modest, out-of-the-way neighborhood. Its homes sit near stores and a marvelous park, close to the necessities, but also to the adventures that make life fun.
