Winter Haven/Lake Wales Neighborhood

Winter Haven/Lake Wales is situated in sunny Florida between Tampa and Orlando in the gentle rolling hills of Polk County. Winter Haven/Lake Wales apartments have access to some of the most exciting attractions in Florida including Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, Sea World and Universal Studios.

Winter Haven/Lake Wales is known for a number of outdoor attractions including adventure park Cypress Gardens, Historic Bok Sanctuary gardens and Fantasy of Flight Air Museum. Over 40 fresh water lakes are in the area, making it a very popular spot for schools for water skiing and barefoot skiing. Fourteen of the lakes in the city are connected by a system of navigable canals known as “The Chain of Lakes.”

The downtown section of Winter Haven was designated a Historic District in 2002. The historic district showcases more than two dozen historic structures, including the Beymer building. Situated in the heart of downtown is Central Park, where various events are held throughout the year. Main Street Market Day, the local farmer’s market, is offered the first Saturday of the month.

Downtown Winter Haven is located on the east side of Lake Howard and Lake Howard Drive Southwest. Lake Silver and Lake Martha are a short distance to the northeast. Rotary Park sits near the southern edge of Lake Martha. While the area has numerous businesses (many locally owned), downtown also provides various entertainment venues. From the brick sidewalks of Main Street to glorious Central Park, the small-town atmosphere is why many people call Winter Haven home.
