Bankhead is a diverse neighborhood located about three mile northwest of downtown Atlanta, Georgia and less than a mile west of Georgia Tech. Living in Bankhead will place you a mile northwest of the massive Georgia World Congress Center, a 3.9 million square foot convention center; the Georgia Dome, home of the NFL Atlanta Falcons; and Phillips Arena, home of the NHL Atlanta Thrashers.
Currently undergoing a revitalization process, Bankhead is home to the new English Avenue Yards, an artist community consisting of studios designed for established artists. It is also the workshop for the Atlanta Opera, the Atlanta Ballet, and the Alliance Theatre. Several new lofts are being built and there are several community projects in the works. Maddox Park features a swimming pool, a play area, picnic areas, ball fields, and tennis courts. MARTA’s Bankhead Station allows residents travel through the metro area quickly and easily.
