Capitol Gateway Neighborhood

The Downtown area is the heart and soul of Atlanta’s tourism industry, but until recently, it’s been an area in which many residents work, but few live. Like any major city, Atlanta’s Downtown area attracts both businesses and visitors with an array of tourist attractions, corporate headquarters, and top-notch restaurants, but it hasn’t always been popular with residents. The Capitol Gateway area is indicative of a sense of revitalization in Downtown Atlanta, drawing more residents in with upscale condominiums, apartments, and townhouses.

Located between downtown’s Memorial Drive and Capitol Avenue, the Capitol Gateway area is one that’s home to the Georgia State Capitol, as well as a lively urban neighborhood. Near Georgia State and the Georgia State MARTA station, it’s convenient for those wishing to travel to virtually any section of the city, and easy to access from I-75/85 and I-20. The major draw of the area is the location, since it is easy to reach many of Atlanta’s major attractions from the Capitol Gateway neighborhood, including Zoo Atlanta, Turner Field, Grant Park, Oakland Cemetery, and the Carter Center.

The Capitol Gateway area is home to affordable housing options for students, due to the fact that both Georgia State and Georgia Tech are located in nearby areas.
