Kirkwood Neighborhood

In the 1870s, a small community of bungalows developed just east of Atlanta, Georgia. Back then, the roughly two miles from the city to this new community was quite a carriage ride. Today, Kirkwood is a trendy, urban neighborhood of Craftsman bungalows, wide sidewalks, and mature trees. Conveniently located, it is three miles south of Emory University, four miles from Georgia Tech, and a minutes-long MARTA ride to downtown from the nearby East Lake Station.

This pedestrian-friendly pocket neighborhood is located on the PATH, a multi-use trail for cycling, rollerblading, walking, or jogging. The business district contains decorative details such as brick pavers and period lighting and is filled with restaurants, shops, and coffee houses.

Kirkwood is located on Atlanta’s Eastside, which includes many of the city’s more popular neighborhoods, including Ansley Park, Cabbagetown, Candler Park, Druid Hills, Decatur, Inman Park, Little 5 Points, Old Fourth Ward, Poncey-Highland, Sweet Auburn, and Virginia Highland. When you rent an apartment in Kirkwood, you’ll enjoy this and many other trendy neighborhoods.

Many must-visit locations are scattered in and around Kirkwood, including the Vortex Bar & Grill, Junkman’s Daughter, and the North Dekalb Mall.
