Sweet Auburn Neighborhood

Sweet Auburn in downtown Atlanta, Georgia is the neighborhood along Auburn Avenue, which runs from Woodruff Park through the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site. Within its mile and a half, this area is home to several important sites, including the birthplace of Martin Luther King, Jr. The street was named a National Historic Landmark because of the role it played in the economic, cultural, and social lives of African-Americans during the 1890s to 1930s.

Situated just north of Georgia State University, many are finding that Sweet Auburn’s convenient location, beautiful architecture, and hip vibe makes for a fun and interesting place to live. The Sweet Auburn Curb Market was founded in 1918 and contains fresh produce, meats, cheese, specialty items, and an award-winning collection of small cafes.

Sweet Auburn Spring Fest is a three-day event along this historic avenue, with an artists’ market, live entertainment, events, and a fun zone for kids.
