Area landmarks and amenities include the Morris Museum of Art, the Augusta Museum of History, City Hall, Sacred Heart Cultural Center, the Old Medical College of Georgia, and historic St. Paul’s Church. Additionally, Riverwalk Park is a popular walking area within minutes of Old Town. Park visitors can walk at river level or high above the river on the levee. Riverwalk Park also connects with the scenic Augusta Canal Trail that follows the river for miles through the city. Riverwalk Park and the Augusta Commons host many of the local festivals and special events in the city.
The Savannah River also forms the border between Georgia and South Carolina in this area. South Carolina is easily accessed by several bridges that connect the two states. Joggers, cyclists, and walkers often travel over the bridges to trails on the South Carolina side of the river.
