Many are located in the historic Marietta Square, a pedestrian-friendly downtown that includes a weekly farmers market, the Marietta Museum of History, and Theatre in the Square – a professional theatre that features live performances.
Cobb County schools are consistently ranked among the best in the state, and the Cobb County School District has one of the best music education programs in the nation, as determined by the NAMM Foundation and the American Music Conference. Marietta City Schools is a separate school district, founded in 1892. Colleges and universities in Cobb County include Kennesaw State University, Chattahoochee Technical College, and Southern Polytechnic State University.
Other Cobb County cities include Acworth, Kennesaw, Smyrna, Powder Springs, Acworth, and Austell. Communities include Vinings, East Cobb, Fair Oaks, Mableton, and Cumberland.
