Baldwin Park Neighborhood

The neighborhood of Baldwin Park is confined by East 40th Street, Price Street, East Victory Drive, and Waters Avenue in zip code 31401. The tree-lined streets contain ornamental lamps and wide sidewalks. The dwellings consist of an assortment of large homes and Craftsman-style bungalows, commonly enclosed by wrought iron or brick fencing.

Several historical churches are located in the Baldwin Park area. Two of the oldest congregations are the First Presbyterian Church, organized in 1827, and The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, which was established in the 1700s.

The public schools for the community are located within two miles of Baldwin Park and include Ellis Elementary School, Hubert Middle School, and Beach High School. Various private schools and day care centers are available nearby.

The 80-acre Daffin Park offers a wide array of outdoor activities. It has clay tennis courts, a swimming pool, and playground equipment for the younger children. Also available are basketball courts, as well as fields for playing football, soccer, and baseball.

Daffin park has a gazebo in the center that is surrounded by large spraying fountains; there is also a lake that is open for fishing from the shore. The gazebo can accommodate up to 20 people and is available for gatherings or cookouts. Visitors are welcome to bring their dog along for a walk. Residents can take in a minor league baseball game at Daffin Park.

Three shopping centers are within three miles of Baldwin Park for convenient grocery and necessity items. Oglethorpe Mall, less than four miles away, offers a variety of department stores, specialty shops, and restaurants.
