Memorial Hospital/Fairfield Neighborhood

The Memorial Hospital/Fairfield neighborhood is kid-friendly and has an abundance of shopping centers as well as a thriving college community. Golfers can enjoy the several courses nearby, in one of the first American towns to take up golf, and others can enjoy blue waters and scenic views at the many local parks.

Memorial Hospital/Fairfield sits immediately next to the Memorial University Medical Center, a 530-bed academic medical center. Among other distinctions, this award-winning hospital has been recognized for its incorporation of technology, work with strokes, spinal surgery, joint replacement, and earned a Consumer Choice Award. The Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah is less than five minutes south of the neighborhood.

Savannah’s vibrant college community started with Savannah State University, which has been educating students for more than 120 years. The SSU campus covers more than 170 acres with giant sweeping oak trees, marsh, and classic architecture. Savannah College of Art and Design is less than five miles north of Momorial Hospital/Fairfield, enrolls more than 9,000 students, and boasts the most degrees and specializations of any art school in the world. South University is located less than ten minutes south of the neighborhood and offers degrees in Pharmacy, Health, Business, Arts and Sciences, and Nursing.

Shopping can hardly be more convenient than in the Memorial Hospital/Fairfield area, which has more than one dozen shopping centers within a five-minute drive. Among the closest is Twelve Oaks Dumarche Shopping Center, which is home to a variety of businesses and restaurants including OfficeMax and Bonefish Grill.

Golfers can test their game at the nearby Savannah Municipal Golf Course, or the Hunter Golf Course, in addition to several award winning courses within a 15-minute drive. A large number of parks can be found a short drive from the neighborhood.
