Close to the airport, and just ten minutes from downtown in the 61704 ZIP code area, the neighborhood offers its inhabitants comfortable living in single family homes, town houses and apartments, all on low-traffic streets surrounded by mature trees.
Access to the subdivision is from East Oakland Avenue at Chelsea Drive. There are a number of hiking and biking trails throughout the Oakridge neighborhood and residents have subdivision only access to tennis courts and a swimming pool. Nearby Rollingbrook Park offers additional tennis courts, basketball, roller hockey, soccer, softball and baseball activities, picnic tables, drinking fountains and shelters, over a 14.7 acre recreation area.
Golfing enthusiasts in the Oakridge neighborhood can partake of the sport at either the Bloomington Country Club, Lakeside Country Club, Highland Park Golf Course, or the Links at Ireland Grove. Oakridge is a short commute away from Illinois Wesleyan University, and both Eastland Mall and Osf Saint Joseph Medical Center are less than ten minutes away.
