Fulton Terrace Neighborhood

The Fulton Terrace community is located about one mile north of the Ohio River in western Evansville, Indiana. It is situated south of West Diamond Avenue, west of 5th Avenue/North Fulton Avenue, and north of West Columbia Street. The western border of this Evansville neighborhood is a tree-lined estuary off the Ohio River.

Properties in this community include mostly late-19th century craftsman-style bungalow row houses. Homes are often much larger than they appear from the street, because the row houses are built deep rather than wide. Yards are generally very small and well-kept.

Residents living in the Fulton Terrace community enjoy their proximity to a variety of shops, restaurants, and banks along North Fulton Avenue. The many smaller streets of the neighborhood also offer a selection of neighborhood dining options and other locally-owned businesses such as PJ’s Bar, Buck’s Tavern, the Hob Nob Bar, the Big Top Drive-In, and Rosie’s Diner.

Recreational points of interest near this area include Lamasco Park, the Evansville Civic Theatre, Evansville’s Mesker Park Zoo, and the Helfrich Hills Golf Course. Churches in and near the Fulton Terrace area include Friendship Southern Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, St. James Baptist Church, and others.

Students in this area of western Evansville attend Cedar Hall Elementary, Harwood Middle School and Central High School, all of which are part of the Evansville Vanderburgh Public School Corporation. Some children may also attend nearby St. Boniface Catholic School.
